SEHBC does 1861km in a day.

In 2016 we lost Matt Greenwood, member of SEHBC, to bone cancer. Since then, the boat club has run a yearly BBQ on Saturday of Summer 8s in Matt's memory to raise funds for the Bone Cancer Research Trust. Although in these circumstances it may seem like the world has come to a stop, cancer and its treatment has not, so it is more important to us than ever to run an annual event for BCRT.

The Challenge

As SEHBC was founded in 1861, we are setting alumni and current SEHBC members a challenge to collectively surpass 1861km of exercise in just one day on Saturday 16th May, with the aim to raise over £1000 for BCRT. Whether or not you are taking part, please do donate through the JustGiving page, and ask friends and family to donate. From the cost of a burger you would have bought from the BBQ to the amount waived for Trinity subs, we would be grateful for anything you could contribute towards our goal.

How to take part

Now we count on you, members and alumni of SEHBC to run, cycle or erg for a distance that is challenging for you in the span of 24 hours. If you are unable to do these activities, an hour of exercise at home will be equivalent to 10km. Our goal is to reach 1861 km by the end of our challenge, the founding date of our Boat Club. If you do decide to take part, please post your completed distance on the facebook event page or email us your distance at secretary@sehbc.org, and we will post regular collective distance updates throughout the day. https://www.facebook.com/events/236296694352794/
