Michaelmas Term 2023

It’s been a land-heavy term for SEHBC due to high river levels, but that hasn’t stopped a productive term - our captains report below:

The SEHBC men’s side has experienced a fruitful Michaelmas term, with an impressive intake of 14 novice rowers. Additionally, we've welcomed three experienced rowers who've brought depth and skill to our squad. Our training this term has been transformed by the addition of the new boathouse gym. This has allowed us to integrate weightlifting into our regimen, complementing our extensive erging sessions and enhancing overall athlete development.

Looking forward to the Hilary term, there's a strong sense of potential and excitement within the team. The progress made so far sets a solid foundation for the upcoming bumps races, which we are very much looking forward to.

The SEHBC women’s side has had a fantastic first term back at the boathouse! Our senior squad entered and trained hard for Upper Thames Autumn Head and Teddington Head this term, although both regattas were unfortunately cancelled due to high river flow. We recruited over 30 new rowers this term, with an incredible 18 novice women going on to compete in the novice regatta. They produced some phenomenal times, despite only having done a term of rowing so far.

Overall, we have produced very strong results so far this term despite the difficult weather, and can’t wait for our bumps races to start next term!

We finished the term with our Michaelmas dinner at the White House by Tap Social, and look forward to bumps races next term!
